NEWENHOUSE, BERNARDINA – 89, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on June 6, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility, Manahawkin.  She was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands resided there until 1954, then lived in Coney Island, NY prior to moving to Manahawkin, NJ.  Bernardina was a Physician with her practice in Manahawkin, NJ.

Bernardina is survived by her sons, Jeffrey and his wife Tracey of West Long Branch, NJ and Stephen of Cedar Run, NJ, also her grandchildren Tiffany Ann, Melisa Nicole, Amanda Joy, and Kevin Michael.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM at the Bisque Restaurant, 2020 Long Beach Blvd., Ship Bottom, NJ.

To Steve and Jeff: I worked with you mom for years, but my favorite memory of her was that one day, at work, we were discussing gardening. The next day when she came to work, she gave me 10 iris bulbs that she had brought with her when her family fled Holland during WW2. Every year when those beautiful deep purple iris's bloom, I think of your mom and how kind she was to give me something that she brought from her home country.
