FRANCIS, HOWARD I., 74 of Tuckerton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 30. Howard's family moved to West Creek when he was two, where he lived until he moved to Tuckerton in 1965. He worked for the Ocean County Roads Department and the Garden State Parkway, and retired in 2002 after nearly 29 years of service. Howard was a diligent public servant, who served on the Borough of Tuckerton Zoning Board for six years, after which he was elected to the Borough Council for three consecutive terms ending in 1987. For part of that time he was also appointed to the Tuckerton Municipal Utilities Authority, through 1991. Howard was also an active member of the Improved Order of Red Men, Pohatcong Tribe #61, for more than 50 years. He held the office of Past Great Sachem, and was Great Keeper of Wampum at the time of his passing. As Borough Councilman and Great Sachem in 1980, Howard was instrumental in obtaining the Red Men's War Memorial Indian Statue, a Tuckerton landmark. Possessed of a quick and dry wit, Howard loved slapstick comedies, cowboy movies, NASCAR and the Washington Redskins. He is survived by his wife of more than 51 years, Bonnie, daughter Jennifer, and mother-in-law June Lemunyon. Per Howard's wishes, no services will be held.

Jenn, you are one of my dearest friends, and I am simply heartbroken over your loss. There can't be any words to soothe the soul as you and your family work towards processing this and adjust to the new normal. So I will just say, "I love you like a sister," and I'm praying for you all. I'm on the ready when you need anything at all. {{hugs}}
