VITTORIO BASILE age 78, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, New Jersey.  He was born in Sicily, Italy on August 27, 1941 to Vito and Filippa Basile.  At the age of 23, he married the love of his life and started his own family.  The life they lived in Sicily was a happy and simple life, but the spark in his eyes and the desire in his heart made him want more for his family.  In 1973, he ventured over to the United States of America to build a home for his family in hopes of giving them a better life and live the “American Dream”.  Not knowing one word of English, he set out and chose a field that suited him and started what would end up being a great foundation for his family…literally brick by brick as he was a masonry worker.  No matter how long and hard he worked, he never lost site, focus, drive or motivation of what was truly important to him…his family.  He Vittorio nhad an immense amount of love for his family, but his calling, passion and happy place was his garden.  He nurtured, loved and took care of his plants as though they were his children.  He put so much effort into his garden and it truly warmed his heart when his grandchildren picked tomatoes, pull the figs off the tree and smiled as he watched them enjoy his hard work.  He would randomly burst into old tunes when he felt happy, danced silly to spruce up the moment. Enjoyed busting his family’s chops to make everyone smile, loved his home-made wine and, sneaking food off the grill when no one was looking.  He also enjoyed making crafty woodwork for everyone and cherished Sunday dinners with his family as that was most valuable to him. Vittorio was a loving soul, a giving person with a huge heart and one to never give up.  He was loved by many, will be sorely missed, never forgotten and always in our hearts.

Vittorio is survived by his wife Cristina (married 55 years), children Vito Basile, of Suffolk, VA., Phyllis Barbuto, of Pine Hill, N.J., Rosalia Basile, of Old Bridge, N.J., and Salvatore Basile, of West Creek, N.J., sisters Rosalia Randazzo, of Long Island, N.Y., brother Andrew Basile, of Concord, N.C., and Rosa Russo, of Brooklyn, N.Y., grandchildren Kayla, Sabrina, Gabriella, Ronnie, Tyler, Chloe, Isabella, and Mila.
