Thomas A. Dixon, 86 years old of Little Egg Harbor died on January 18, 2015. Born in the Bronx, NY. He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1949. He lived in Brooklyn with his predeceased wife, Joyce, before moving to Bethel, Connecticut where they raised their two sons, Thomas and Brian.

Tom was a civil engineer and in his free time was a baseball coach and director/actor at Brookfield Playhouse. In his retirement, he served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 84 for many years. Tom was also involved in the community, most known as Financier for Mystic Shores Bingo. He was an avid Pinochle and bocce player.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his sons: Thomas, (Carolyn), and Brian, (Lisa), his four grandchildren: Trevor, Tyler, Troy, and Tara, and his wife’s six children.

Friends will be received at Wood Funeral Home, 134 East Main Street, Tuckerton, from 2:00-4:00 pm on Monday, January 26, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at The Parish of St. Theresa 450 Radio Road, Little Egg Harbor on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 9:30 am.

Graveside burial will be private at the convenience of family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Thomas Dixon may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for children.

We were present when Tom and Phyllis were married, it was a memorable day. We celebrated it with Tom, Phyllis, our daughter Janice and many of their friends and family. Good times pass too quickly. We all will miss Tom.
