WESP, DOUGLAS “DOUG” JAMES, age 68, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on February 22, 2021, at home after an extended illness.  Son of Robert E. and Ruth (Johnson) Wesp.  He was born May 3, 1952.  Doug is survived by his wife Mariann; children and grandchildren Melissa Roberts (husband Christopher; children Alexis and Gabrielle), Kera Masino (Justin Rusin; children Killian, Bailey, Gianna, Audrina and Colton), Jennifer Myers (children Vienna and Nico) and Joshus Habel (wife Allison); and brothers Richard Wesp (wife Mary Lou), and Robert J. Wesp (wife Debra).  After studying at Fairleigh Dickenson University, Doug developed an interest in surveying.  He worked with several surveyors in northern New Jersey before becoming proprietor of his own land surveying company.  After retiring in Little Egg Harbor, Doug looked forward to visits from his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed fishing and boating in the bay.  The family would like to thank Allen Piccininno, Christopher O’Connor, and the staff from Bayada Hospice (Toms River) for their support and care.  Doug’s wishes were to be cremated with no service.  He often went out of his way to help others; in memory of him, consider doing the same or donating to your favorite charity or to Pibbles and More Animal Rescue using paypal, friends and family, to melissapmar@gmail.com, add a message “for Doug Wesp”.   WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 134 EAST MAIN ST., TUCKERTON, N.J.

We shared a few things, you were from Paramus, we just left Paramus, you were close friends with Jody Esposito, we lived at his bar, we both ended up on the same street, at your suggestion we chose the same house as you and you were our pseudo sub-contractor 😊, I wished we could have shared more time with you! Mariann,
So sorry to hear this and sorry for your loss. I was just thinking today, as I was watching the Ranger game, how much Dougie used to like hockey. We used to play together afire school on a pond nearby in Paramus. There are countless other stories, to numerous to tell. He was a good, faithful friend.

I loved Doug--always in a good mood, happy to see you and a great all-around nice guy. Sold him and Mariann their house and I think they knew Mom first--Mariann being a Nutley girl. He loved his surveying too. Sorry to see you go. Doug! My best to Mariann and the family!

My deepest condolences to Mariann and all of Doug's family. I knew Doug as a surveyor for many years but mostly as a friend. We spent many a poker nite together; he not only played well but was fun to be with and always had a smile and an enjoyable story to tell. The fond memories of Doug will always be with me.
