A. John Wittlieb Jr. Obituary

A. John Wittlieb Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 21, 1945, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, John lived a life grounded in the joy of family and friends.

John was a graduate of MacMurray College, where he played both soccer and baseball, forming strong friendships and memories that he carried with him throughout his life. He also served in the National Guard, a period he reflected on with pride and gratitude.

John owned a promotional business for more than 30 years and lived in Lincroft, NJ, where he and his wife, Carol Ann (Buczynski) Wittlieb, raised their four children, Kim, Carol, John, and Cheri, rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support.

John enjoyed many summers on LBI, spending time with his family, boating, and fishing. After moving to Little Egg Harbor, John found his love for golf. Blue Heron Pines, his favorite course, became a second home to him—a place where he played countless rounds and built lasting friendships. Golf was woven into the rhythm of his days, offering him joy, connection, and the chance to play not only with his friends but also with his son, John, and his grandson, Jack.

While John had many passions, none brought him more joy than his children and grandchildren. He was extraordinarily proud of their personal accomplishments, of how close they are to each other, and of their keen appreciation for tradition and family.

John was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, whose life revolved around his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Ann Wittlieb; his four children: Kim (Wittlieb) Strong (and her husband Josh), Carol Wittlieb-Weber (and her husband David), A. John Wittlieb III (and his wife Jenna), and Cheri (Wittlieb) Caravano (and her husband Justin); four grandchildren, Jack, Peyton, A. John IV, and Brady; his sister Virginia Hewitt, brother Christopher Wittlieb, sister-in-law Elaine Buczynski, brother-in-law Frank Buczynski Jr. (and wife Mary), brother-in-law Anthony Buczynski Sr. (and wife Vicki), and sister-in-law Patricia Buczynski; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his father, Alfred John Wittlieb; his mother, Doris Wittlieb; his father-in-law, Frank Buczynski Sr.; his mother-in-law, Anna Buczynski; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Buczynski Sr. and Joseph Hewitt.

His warm humor, gentle spirit, and steadfast kindness touched everyone he met. He will be remembered with great affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral Mass will be held, followed by a celebration of life in the spring, when family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a cause close to his heart.

John’s legacy of love, humility, and devotion lives on in those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed
