Obituary

Charles J Corello, 99, of Little Egg Harbor passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 24, 2023, after a short stay in Seacrest Nursing Home. A WW2, US Army Air Force veteran, he proudly served in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945 as a cryptographic tech, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was an electrician and member of the IBEW Local 164 for 69 years and a lifelong member of the VFW. Mr. Corello was born in Newark, N.J., to the late John and Carmella Corello (née Dinome) where he lived until his marriage. He then moved to Verona, where he raised his family and resided for 43 years prior to moving to Little Egg Harbor in 2002. He was a parishioner at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Little Egg Harbor, N.J., where he served as an usher, and a member of the Italian American Club, Verona, N.J.. An avid bowler, he bowled in two leagues into his 90’s; he also enjoyed travel, luxury cars, and fine dining, especially at his nephew’s restaurant, The Garlic Rose Bistro in Cranford, N.J.. Mr. Corello was predeceased by his beloved wife, Angela (née Rocco) of almost 63 years and by his brothers Theodore, Anthony and Andrew Corello, his sister Anna Bober and nephew Anthony Corella. He is survived by his loving daughters, Barbara Filippello and husband, Joseph of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Linda Cook and husband, Kenneth of West Milford, N.J., and Cheryl Manna and husband, John, of Wharton, N.J., beloved grandchildren, Joseph Filippello, Jr., David Filippello (Melissa), Cathleen Filippello (Dina), Christopher (Kelley Spader) and Matthew Cook (Sarah), and John (Michelle Pirone) and Brian Manna (Kelly Patterson) and beloved great grandchildren, USAF Staff Sergeant Joseph Filippello, Presley and Andi Filippello, Corvin Spader and Sophia Angela Cook, Mason, Adelyn and Lillie Ann Cook. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, all services for Charles were private. The family requests that any remembrances or donations be made in his name to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital.
