Donald Horneff Obituary

Donald C. Horneff, Sr., 83, of Tuckerton left this life for a better place on March 10, 2022. He is survived by his sons Donald, Jr and Jeff Dawson (Cyndi); granddaughters Christina Chlebek, Amanda Dawson, Brittney Roxas (Shayne) and Samantha Dawson; great-grandchildren Ty Chlebek and Laynee Kennedy. Don was predeceased by his daughter Dawn Wilson. He is also survived by his sister Patricia H. Nolan, many loving nieces and nephews and his special friend, Barbara C. Don was loved by many people who mourn his loss, among them these devoted friends and Boys’ Club members: Tom, Woody, Tink, Ridgeway Big Sam, Will and Ronnie. Last but not least, Don will be greatly missed by his beloved companion, his golden retriever, Ace, the last in a long line of the goldens he treasured.
Don was an outdoorsman all his life. He began hunting and fishing as a teenager and continued as long as he was physically able. Among his favorite memories are his recent hunting trips to Argentina to bag doves or ducks, depending on the season. He had fond memories, too, of spending his summers in Tuckerton as a boy fishing the bay and hunting the woods and became a permanent resident as soon as he was able.
As a Tuckerton resident Don worked as a contractor d/b/a Little Egg Builders. He was proud of his reputation as a builder who was known for his integrity and the quality of his work. He remained friends with several of the people for whom he built custom homes.

Cremation was arranged by Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Seeing Eye, PO Box 375, Morristown, NJ 07963 or www.SeeingEye.org.  Or a favorite charity of your choice.
