Elaine McClure Obituary

Elaine Francis McClure, 85 of Tuckerton, NJ was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 20, 1938. She graduated from Woodbridge High School where with intention and an offer to Columbia University. Instead, she chose to start a family and tend a working farm in in South Jersey. The farming life ended, and Elaine relocated to Tuckerton for a short time in 1960 before moving to Langhorne, PA with her first born in tow, to own and operate The Maple Inn. As life would have it, Elaine returned to Tuckerton where she worked at her parent’s business, Tuckerton Liquors while working at Bell Telephone on Long Beach Island. She then took a chance with her dear friend, Harry Disbrow when he opened Bayshore Agency where she worked for 46 years until the day she passed on June 30th. Elaine was frequent member of The Million Dollar Sales Club and Circle of Excellence. As she honed her skills, her clients were not just a commission, they were family as could be seen at her annual Christmas Eve Open House or one of the many other gatherings she hosted throughout the year with the love of her life, Bill.

Elaine and Bill were a true love story! They married on November 9,1974 and lived in Elaine’s home on Third Ave. the best street at the time to raise a family due to the families in the neighborhood. Bill relocated Pickwick Book Shoppe, his passion, to Tuckerton but after a few years they decided to buy a historic Victorian home complete with carriage house that would be the perfect solution for finding a final home for Pickwick and more space their four children. Elaine and Bill restored the home with enthusiasm and love creating a picture-perfect home due to Elaine’s amazing decorating skills and Bill’s unmatchable ability to find exactly what she wanted. Their home became a jewel of Tuckerton full of life, open to everyone, and no one left without a jar of her homemade jam.

Elaine fell in love with Tuckerton from the first time she set foot in the community!  Not because she sold and resold most of it, but because of the people. She was involved in many community organizations most notably her beloved Tuckerton Library Association (TLA) where she served a President for two terms and was trustee since 1970. She was simply following the tradition her mother, who was a founder of the TLA.

Elaine was the epitome of social grace with a full calendar. She didn’t just have friends she had groups of friends in every corner of NJ, to Pennsylvania, Florida, Maine and more. She belonged to The Gorgeous Gourmets (founding member), Married Couples Club of Ocean City, Book Club of Ocean City, and many more.

Elaine’s greatest achievement, of which there are many, was her children and their families coinciding with her very large extended family she helped to create and maintain. She loved with impunity, had an immeasurable work ethic, and her intelligence ruled many conversations. Elaine was a force to be reckoned with in every area of her life and she will be missed infinitely.

Elaine is predeceased by her husband Bill McClure, daughter Aimee McClure, her parents, Ben and Dorothy Gasior (nee Kozuhowski),

Elaine, is survived by her loving brother Ken Gasior, daughter Beth Obiedzinski-Garvin (Steve Wooton), sons Mark Obiedzinski (Mary), and Doug McClure (Tina), grandchildren: Tommy, Robert (Nicolette), Joey (Laura), Stevey (Katie), Casey (Scott), Doug, Natilee, Meghan, Kevin, along with great-grandchildren Ailis, Everlee, and Aiofe.
