Emma M. Tyson, 90, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Raritan, NJ in 1935, Emma grew up in Newark where she graduated from Saint Vincent Academy. She married Sigmund W. (Bill) Tyson in 1957, and together they raised three children in Union, NJ. Emma worked as a secretary to the fire chief at the Union Fire Department before retiring to Chadwick Beach Island and then Little Egg Harbor. Emma enjoyed spending time with her family, camping on the beach up and down the East Coast, and vacationing at the Jersey Shore. Emma had an unwavering faith in God and especially loved the Blessed Mother and Saint Padre Pio. She was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Rosary Altar Society for many years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manahawkin and Saint Pio of Pietrelcina Church in Lavallette. Emma joins her parents, William and Mary Jones; her sisters, Gertrude Byrne, Dorothy Hanlon, and Ruth Hargreaves; her brothers, Robert and William Jones; and her beloved daughter, Dawn Marie Tyson, in Heaven. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 67 years, Bill; her brother, Chris Jones; her son, Bill Tyson, and his wife, Lisa; her daughter, Lisa Simpson, and her husband, John; her grandchildren, Katie Tyson, Kelli Simpson-Lembo, and her husband, Nick, Bree Anne Simpson, and John Simpson, and his wife, Digianna; and her great-grandsons, Tyler Simpson, and Ryan and Ian Lembo.
