MAIHOFER, GEORGE J., 95, of Toms River, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J. He was born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and graduated from Ardsley High School. He was a Korean War veteran fighting on the front lines, and later served as a sergeant in the 25th Division of the Generals Honor Guard. George’s career began at Phelps Dodge Cable & Wire Co. in Yonkers, leaving New York in 1979, moving to New Jersey to work for Carlson Industries, retiring at the age of 80 from Church & Dwight Co., Inc., Lakewood, N.J. His favorite times were always those spent with family and especially camping.
George was predeceased by his daughters Toni-Ann Migliore, and Lisa-Jane Vinciquarra. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Hope T. Maihofer, daughters Hope-Claire Holbeck (Doug), Mary-Beth Byrne (Jim), and son-in-law Tony Vinciquarra. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lawrence Migliore, Kristin Migliore Burns, Teresa Migliore Evans, Jessica Holbeck Castenschiold, Kelsey Holbeck Perkins, Kevin Vinciquarra, Eric Vinciquarra, Corey Byrne, Kyle Byrne, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 134 EAST MAIN ST., TUCKERTON, N.J. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to Ocean of Love For Children With Cancer, Toms River, N.J.
