DeVERTER, HARRY G., 93, of New Gretna, N.J. Born at home on August 25, 1930, in Lancaster, PA., to George and Florence DeVerter. Harry graduated in 1948 from McCaskey High School in Lancaster, PA. He worked for Hamilton Watch until his military service. He was an Air Force Veteran and served during the Korean War in 1950-1955. He graduated from Millersville College, PA., in 1959 and taught Industrial Arts at Southern Regional High School for 30 years. Harry was a member of the Parkertown Fire Company and the Tuckerton First Aide Squad. He was a member of the Little Egg Harbor Board of Education and an original member of Pinelands Regional High School Board of Education. Harry was predeceased by his parents George and Florence of Lancaster, Pa., and his sister Rosamae. Survived by his wife, Joyce, of 62 years, daughter Elizabeth DeVerter and son David and wife Delmy. He especially loved his three grandsons, Zachary Nocera, Ben Nocera, and George DeVerter. Harry lit up a room with his presence. He loved making people laugh and smile. Visitation will be Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 11 AM - 1 PM, with a service at 1 PM, at Wood Funeral Home, 134 East Main St., Tuckerton, N.J.
