Jean E. Rhoads

RHOADS, JEAN E., 83, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., passed away October 14, 2024.  She was born in Philadelphia, PA.  Parents of the late Louis and Florence (Jones) Ruch.  Jean graduated from Roxborough H.S. in 1959, worked for Central Penn Nat’l Bank/Meridian Bank for 30 years, holding various positions.  She married the late husband William Rhoads in 1976.  They bought their vacation dream home in Mystic Island, N.J., moved there permanently in 1990.  She enjoyed working with her husband on household projects including building many gardens, walkways and a rose arbor overlooking the lagoon and salt marshes.  They moved to Mystic Shores in 2003, also had a condo in Stuart, FL., for a short period of time.  Her biggest joy in life was her cats spanning over 50 years.  Their names were Blackie, Mikie, Natasha, Rusty, Dusty, Bingo, and Timmy, and each one having their own personality.  Jean was a member of many organizations, and was a congregant of Church of The Holy Spirit, Tuckerton, N.J.  Her hobbies were gardening, photography, and collecting recipes. 

Jean was predeceased by her husband William M. Rhoads, and niece Tina Payne.   She is survived by her sister Florence (Ruch) Payne and husband Thomas Payne, Sr., step-daughter Cynthia Zuk (Steve), nieces Mary Lou Burns (Larry), and Cathy Payne, nephews Thomas Payne Jr. (Liz), and Richard Payne, along with many great nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11 AM, at Church of the Holy Spirit, Mathistown Rd., 220 E. Main St., Tuckerton, N.J.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, N. Green St., Tuckerton, N.J.  In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Society’s Forked River Animal Care Center.  WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 134 E. MAIN ST., TUCKERTON, N.J. is handling the arrangements.
