Landrum G. Ellis

July 27, 2022

Landrum (Lanny) G. Ellis Jr of New Gretna, NJ, passed away on July 27, 2022 at the age of 82.   Lanny was born on June 2, 1940 to Helen and Landrum G. Ellis Sr of Hillside NJ.  After he graduated highschool, Lanny enrolled in the National Guard in 1963 and stayed active until 1968.  Lanny studied electrical engineering during his time in the guard and went on to become a master electrician.  After graduating with his electrical license, Lanny moved the family to Bayville, NJ.  He was an active member with the Bayville Fire Department for ten years and owned his own electrical contracting business in Bayville, for 15 years.  In 1978, Lanny and his wife Marge moved the family to New Gretna, NJ.   Lanny built the family house on the exact spot where he shot his largest buck.   Lanny closed his own business and spent the last twenty years of his working life at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City.   He always enjoyed his teammates and the many friends he made while working there.

In his retirement, Lanny was active in the union and helped educate several new generations of electricians.  He also spent a great deal of time taking care of his garden, pet deer and his beloved cat.   Lanny loved the Borgata Casino and spent as much time there as he could.   He always enjoyed the staff, especially Jo-Ann and Myra who always had nothing but good things to say about Lanny.

Lanny leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Nadolsky) Ellis.  Together they had three children: Teri Lynn Barbour (Husband Wayne) and children Brooks, Nicki, Andi and Brady.   Cynthia Wilhelm (Husband Eric) and their children Zac, Matt and Emma.   Landrum G. Ellis III and his partner, Fred Harris.  Lanny is also survived by his brother Donald Ellis (Wife Sharron) and several nieces and nephews.

Lanny's last wish was to be cremated and have his ashes spread at one of his favorite places.   The family thanks everyone for their prayers and support.
