Louis Mintiens Obituary

Louis Stephen Mintiens, 80, of Tuckerton, New Jersey, passed away on August 19, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Louis lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep-rooted passions.

A proud graduate of Abington Senior High School in the Class of 1963, Louis went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in May of 1969 after fulfilling his duties with integrity and commitment. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Villanova University in December of 1976.

Louis dedicated much of his professional life to public service as a member of the Philadelphia Police Department. As a K9 Officer partnered with his loyal service dog Benji, he served his community with courage and distinction. He also supported his community by serving several years as a councilman for Tuckerton Borough in New Jersey.

Louis is survived by his five children: Cheryl Ghabayen, Jeanette Mintiens, Louis Mintiens, Michele Hart, and Jennifer Slimmer. His legacy continues through ten grandchildren—Sean Mintiens, Zakk Nahay, Anthony Mintiens, Justin Vreeland, Chelsea Leager, Robert Hart, Samantha Hart, Tyler Hart, Logan Slimmer and Savannah Alvear—and ten great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sarah and Louis Mintiens, and his Sister Patricia Ventresca

Louis had a zest for life that was reflected in his many interests. A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, he rarely missed a game and could often be found cheering from his favorite chair. He was an avid supporter of his favorite political candidates and followed political news closely. He was a lifetime member of the Republican National Committee. His love for the water led him to spend countless hours boating, crabbing and clamming—activities he especially enjoyed sharing with his children. Whether working on projects around the house or relaxing at home with his beloved cat Jax by his side, Louis found joy in both productivity and peaceful moments. Louis had a soft spot for animals and was always making his friends & family laugh as he was the life of the party.

Louis loved each member of his family in different and uniquely personal ways. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him. A Burial will be held on August 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery, North Green Street, Tuckerton, NJ.
