Margaret P. Bennett

BENNETT, MARGARET “PEGGY” P. (RUTTER), born July 14, 1942 in Williamsburg, VA., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Fort Pierce, FL.  Graduated from Southern Regional High School in 1959.  Before retiring in January of 2002, she was a secretary at George J. Mitchell Elementary School in Little Egg Harbor, NJ for 18 years.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Vero Beach FL., a former member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Altavista, VA., and Calvary Baptist Church in Parkertown, NJ, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and active in the AWANA program.  Peggy loved the Lord, spending time with her family, scrapbooking, reading, the beach, and Disney World.  Peggy had a passion for writing.  She would write Christmas stories every year to give to her family.  In 2012, a collection of her Christmas stories were published “Grandy’s Christmas Stories”.  Peggy is predeceased by her parents James N. and Anna Mae Rutter and her husband of 56 years, Edward H. Bennett Sr.  She is survived by four sons, Edward Jr. (Eileen), James, David (Judy), and Michael (Jennifer); eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; her sister Cheryl (Walter) Martin; along with several nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 850 Railroad Ave., Little Egg Harbor, NJ.  A private burial service for the immediate family will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Tuckerton.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Peggy’s name.
