TRUEX, MARTIN L. SR., 66, of Mayetta, New Jersey, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was born in Atlantic City, NJ, and was a lifelong resident of Mayetta, NJ. Martin was one of the owners of both Sea Watch International, the largest clam processor in the U.S and TMT Enterprises, the largest clamming fleet on the East Coast.
Senior, as he was called, had a zest for life that few folks could match. His passions were Family, Clamming, NASCAR and Sport fishing. Senior himself was a veteran of NASCAR’s Busch North Series where he often ran the number 56. He was both father and mentor to NASCAR stars Martin Truex Jr and Ryan Truex. When he wasn’t at a family barbecue, or at the clam dock or the race track, he could be found on his beloved sports fisherman, The Clamaholic. He also enjoyed traveling, live music, watching his boys compete in NASCAR and time with his family, especially his grandchildren Cash and Londyn.
He is predeceased by his parents Leroy Irvin and Roberta L. Truex and brother Leroy “Barney” Truex. He is survived by his daughter Marsha McVey and husband Levi, of Mayetta, NJ, sons Martin Truex Jr, of Mayetta NJ, and Ryan Truex, of Mayetta, NJ and fiancé Leah Schwandt of Little Egg harbor, NJ, brother Curtis Truex and wife Debbie, of Mayetta, NJ, sisters Robin Meyers and husband Jim of Mayetta, NJ, and Kyle and David Michel, of Manahawkin, NJ, and sister in-law Delores Truex of Mayetta, NJ, Ex- Wife Linda Truex, of Mayetta, NJ, Long term girlfriend Christa Spado of Palm Beach FL, along with grandchildren Cash and Londyn, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 3-8 PM at WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 134 EAST MAIN ST., TUCKERTON, NJ. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation in his name.
