Be the first to offer your condolences on Mary's Tribute Wall
Mary Ann Kachoogian sadly passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at 83 years old. She was a resident of Harvey Cedars NJ, spending winters in Naples Florida.
She was born on May 26 1941, to Thomas and Mary Maroney who immigrated from Ireland.
Mary and her husband Armen raised three children in Cranford and Harvey Cedars, NJ.
Mary had a strength and determination to improve herself and make her place in the world. She was brave and undeterred by any challenges. Her fortitude shaped not only her life but lifted the aspirations of her children and grandchildren.
With great drive to improve herself Mary completed her Bachelor’s degree at the age of 41 at Rutgers University. She went on to complete her Master Degree at Kean University.
A career in Real Estate followed at Burgdorff Realtors, in Westfield, NJ.
Mary was always involved in the community; past president of the Cranford Newcomers Club, member of the garden clubs in both Cranford and Barnegat Light as well as past Commodore of Barnegat Light Yacht Club. Later in life she became an avid Bocce Ball player.
The thing she is most be remembered for is her adventurous spirit. Mary taught herself to sail with a tiny boat and ended up sailing around Ireland on a women’s sailing trip.
She enjoyed traveling and visited many places around the world including a bicycle trip around Holland to see the tulips!
She leaves behind her husband Armen, her children Laura Powers (& Prescott) of Mansfield CT, Dan Kachoogian and (Diane) of Cranford NJ, and Gregory Kachoogian (& Ann) of Sea Bright, NJ. Her grandchildren Meghan Powers of Arlington MA, Emma Powers of NYC, Bridget Kachoogian of Cranford, NJ and her sister Kathleen Blank, of Eugene, OR. She is predeceased by her brothers Thomas and Robert Maroney. Services will be held with family.
Donations in Mary’s name can be made to the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts and Sciences.
