Maximillian J. Cafone

Maximillion James Cafone, Sr. of Mount Holly, NJ, passed from this life on October 3, 2024. To those who knew him, Max will remain forever in their hearts as a legendary “one in a million” man.  Max was born and raised in Willingboro, NJ. Throughout his childhood he was an avid comic book reader, a gifted artist, and vocalist—one who was often selected to sing solos for his elementary school choir, most memorably “Blackbird” by The Beatles—who he revered.  Throughout the years, he had many adoring friends and family who enjoyed his rakish humor, unconventional ways, and natural good looks. His love of family, friends, reading, sports, shooting pool, and music—both country and classic rock—brought him much happiness throughout the years. His claim to fame was that he could still beat his older brother Mike in an arm-wresting challenge every time—hands down.  He was the son of Lois B. Cafone (Lewis) and Michael J Cafone, Jr. and proud father of his beloved children, Sheena Marie Cafone (Devon Loring) and Maximillion James Cafone, Jr., (his namesake who predeceased him in 2007.) He also leaves behind his “rock star” grandson, Landon Loring, who lit up his life when he needed it most.  He was husband to Sheila Harrison-Cafone, the mother of his children, and his steadfast and caring wife for many years. His in-laws, Eleanor and John Stetzer of Florence, NJ, were an important presence in his life as well, along with Cindy Smith, his sister-in-law (predeceased).  Max leaves behind his siblings Marie Cafone-Moss (James Moss), Marlene J. Cafone (predeceased), Michael J. Cafone, III, Marjory “Madge” Cafone, and Matthew Cafone (Lori King-Cafone), along with his nieces and nephews Michael “Mikey” J. Cafone, IV (predeceased), Whitley Carter-Cafone (Mike Carter), and Alec Cafone (Nikki Cafone), and a large clan of extended family and friends, most notably, Jack Gooch of Moncks Corner, SC, the Denning family of New Jersey, and a host of outlaws and renegades he collected over the years.  Services were held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 134 E Main Street in Tuckerton, New Jersey. Prayers were said at 5:30 p.m. by Monsignor Robert F. Coleman.
