BARR, RUTH M. nee QUALEY, 80, of Tuckerton, N.J., passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024. She was born December 11, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., graduating from Bogota High School in 1961, moving to South Jersey in 1974. Ruth worked at Golden Nugget, Atlantic City, for 25 years. She retired to Spring Hill, Florida in 2009.
Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Ruthie was always ready for a good time filled with laughter. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved days at the beach. Ruthie had a soft spot for her doggies; most recently “Twinkle Toes” Ollie and “Flat Foot” Lucky. Over the last 15 years in Florida, she made many friends and shared many memories at the Lone Star Ranch. Some of her favorite times were spent with her “Lunch Ladies”, especially Friday pizza.
She will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Louis Manzoni, grandchildren, Danielle and husband George “Tank” Simmons, Nicholas and wife Alissa Manzoni, and Anthony Manzoni and fiance Cheyenne Willey, brother and sister-in-law, David and Diane Qualey, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her sister Patty Heim (Qualey) and parents William and Marjorie Qualey.
Because of her great love of animals, the family asks that donations to the Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River, NJ be made in lieu of flowers. And, the next time you see the ocean or spend a day at the beach, make sure you catch a wave with Ruthie! Services will be private. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 134 EAST MAIN ST., TUCKERTON, N.J. is handling the arrangements.
