LEEK, SHIRLEY J., 87, lifelong resident of Tuckerton, N.J., peacefully joined those welcoming her to life eternal on February 6, 2021, while at home surrounded by her loving family. Throughout 50 years of employment at the Times-Beacon newspaper, she interacted with the public and was afforded the rewarding opportunity to utilize her naturally sociable personality. Shirley was a lifetime member of Tuckerton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer at the local food pantry and worshipped at First United Methodist Church of Tuckerton. The kind and gentle soul who was accepting of everyone, enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She took great pride in her family, lifelong school friends and beloved dogs, Malee and Trixie. Shirley will be remembered for her love of shopping and respected for her incredible strength and independence.
Predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Cramer; husband of 54 years, Major Leek; brother, Nelson Cramer and sister Betty Cronin. She is survived by son, Stephen (Debra) Leek, grandchildren Tara (Andrea), Carrie (Keith), Stephen Jr. (Jennifer), great-grandchildren Emily, Tyler, Stephen III, Colton, Abigail, Avery. Daughter Brenda (John) Hayes, grandchildren Alyssa (Shauna), and Erin (Corey), endeared nieces, nephews and extended family. You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
